About Us

Our VFW Post is a new generation of service, rooted in tradition but focused on the future. Founded by veterans who believe in community, connection, and meaningful action, our Post exists to serve those who served—and to honor them through public service, remembrance, and advocacy.

We prioritize flexibility and purpose-driven outreach. This allows us to dedicate more resources directly to veteran support and community engagement.

Who we are

We are veterans committed to strengthening the bonds between service members, their families, and the community we all call home. Our initiatives reflect our values: honoring sacrifice, fostering unity, and building a legacy for future generations.

Our key projects include:

  • Veterans’ Courtyard – A dedicated space of reflection and recognition for all who have served.

  • Global War on Terrorism Monument – A lasting tribute to those who served in the post-9/11 era, ensuring their sacrifice is never forgotten.

Whether you’re a veteran looking to serve again, a family member seeking connection, or a community member wanting to support, we invite you to be part of our mission.

In Honor of Sgt. Michael P. Hodshire

Our Post is named in honor of Sgt. Michael P. Hodshire, a United States Marine whose life was defined by service, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to his country.

From a young age, Michael dreamed of becoming a Marine. Just four days after graduating from North Adams-Jerome High School, he fulfilled that dream by enlisting in the United States Marine Corps. He quickly stood out as a leader and was even recommended for the elite Silent Drill Team and Color Guard in Washington, D.C.—a reflection of his discipline, precision, and excellence.

Sgt. Hodshire served two tours in Iraq with the 2nd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, Easy Company. During his first deployment in 2004, he led 3rd Platoon as an infantryman. He returned to Iraq in 2005 as a squad leader, continuing to lead from the front with integrity and courage. On October 30, 2005, while conducting combat operations in the Al Anbar Province, Sgt. Hodshire made the ultimate sacrifice.

His example reminds us what it means to serve with honor. Sgt. Hodshire wasn’t just a Marine—he was a leader, a teammate, a brother, and a son whose impact continues to resonate with all who knew him.

By carrying his name, our Post affirms its commitment to service over self, to supporting veterans and their families, and to preserving the legacy of those who gave everything for something greater than themselves.
